Arataki Visitor Centre
Our West Coast Beach tour stops at the Arataki Visitor Centre which provides a fabulous panoramic view of the Auckland isthmus from coast to coast. This stop will give you a taste of the Auckland bush, home to fantails, kereru, (our native wood pigeon) and of course if you are lucky you will hear the warbling song of the tui.
The Arataki Visitor Centre is the gateway to the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park, with more than 16,000 hectares of native rainforest and coastline. It’s 250km of walking and tramping tracks provide access to beaches, breathtaking views, and spectacular rocky outcrops.
Piha Beach
With its black iron sands and rolling surf, Piha Beach is a stunning example of our west coast beaches.
A short stroll through the bush gives a taste of what this country was like before urban development.
